A small leaving gift from my workmates.

Finished work on Thursday with the news just in that I completed my NVQ and got a pay-rise. Maybe I'll be able to pick it up again in the autumn - time will tell.

Friday I took the boys to Legoland in Windsor. They have annual passes which their dad bought for them and I managed to get a cheap ticket, so we were away. Had a good, if exhausting, time and they even persuaded me onto the rollercoasters. I hate rollercoasters with a passion - but these were suitable for Tris' age and up so that was just about do-able. Still got nervous in the queue though!

Saturday we stayed home. The boys spent all afternoon playing Star Wars in the street!

Today we were hoping to meet up with a close pal of mine who's visiting from California, but her daughter was taken ill over night so I got a call at 6.30 this morning cancelling that. It's been a dull, grey day here so the boys played Zelda on the Nintendo (not sure if that has antique status yet, or not. :p) and watched a movie this afternoon. We also framed up some of the work that they brought home from school at the end of term. It seems a shame for it all to sit in a cupboard. I'm going to hang these in the back room tomorrow.

Other than that, not much. Got an unexpected house guest late last night when my friend K turned up on the doorstep. Somehow we ended up supping gin and tonics while surfing through eBay laughing our heads off at the skankiest things we could find. Top of the the bill were a pair of pink flip-flops modelled by someone with a raging fungal foot infection. Absolutely minging!

Tomorrow the boys have are going to a summer club in the morning and I'm off to try and get my ears sorted out: I haven't been able to hear properly out of my left one since I got back from Canada. Very irritating.

And that's me. Scintillating stuff, I know!

Oh, I don't know: the pay increase on your last day was pretty rich to read about....

I know! How's that for a kicker? Still, at least I get more time for the boys and my studies now.

What a cheery bouquet to discover at the top of my flist page! And I love the art work, too. Tris really goes in for bright, whimsical colors, doesn't he?

You obviously got more done than I did this afternoon. Woke up early, got in some exercise and swimming (the pool has been nearly like a tepid bath lately), but about two p.m. got tired and fell asleep. Usually I'll nap for an hour, but I didn't wake up until three hours later, so now I'm trying to wake up and get something accomplished before the rest of the day slips away.

Aren't the flowers just great? I love sunflowers. And the art work, put together like that, really expresses the boys' different personalities, I think. James is quite careful and methodical, whereas Tristan is more expansive and bold - and fond of chickens! At Legoland the other day we were queueing for a roller coaster called The Dragon. At the entrance there were dragon footprints showing the way, which Tristan was very taken by -- insisting on stepping in the "giant chicken's footprints"! I was about doubled up laughing. *grin*

Glad you got some rest yesterday. Often sleep is as valuable as many hours of activity - it seems you've been doing a lot recently. And I have to also say that I do envy you that pool!

Oh, you're welcome! I thought of you the other day: a close friend of mine has recently started getting migraines - at least that's what it's thought they are - and is so very incapacitated by them. I seem to remember you've had them in the past. I hope you've not had too much trouble with them lately. Horrible things.

How sweet of you to think of me! Thanks, Jo! It's true--migraines are horrible. At their worst they're one of the most painful and unpleasant syndromes (with all the GI symptoms) I know of. I've been lucky lately that I've had few really bad migraines. I can usually keep them at bay with medication. Thank the Lady for pharmacology, is all I can say. I sure hope your friend can get hers under control at least a bit; it really makes a difference.
